Os Trigonum

The bone that sits between the two leg bones (tibia and fibula) is known as the talus ands these three bones make up the ankle joint. In some patients, there is in extra (accessory) bone that sits at the back of the ankle behind the talus and this is known as the Os Trigonum. This area can become inflamed or the bone can cause irritation against one of the tendons that runs through this area.
